Would there be any chance the pipe might be for carrying liquid nitrogen for a kind of effect? I would think that would require some kind of insulated pipe. Just tossing it out there. :look:

That stuff is out of my realm so not really sure, seems more likely that would be used for that than it would be used for your typical water service.

Perhaps they want to wait until they have more track on site? It's probably easier to bring in pieces of track that are awkwardly shaped before the building is closed up? Just a guess. First post by the way! Long time lurker though!

Liquid nitrogen for a steam effect seems like a better alternative to regular water, though it'd be way more expensive, no?

Liquid Nitrogen, when hit with even a tiny amount of warm H2O produces a HUGE amount of fog.

Looks to be two welding machines just on the right hand side of the picture, as well as the gentleman wearing the orange shirt with the welding mask, and flame retardant gloves on who seems to be walking towards the pipe. Seems welded would be the most likely possibility.

Hockeyman55 said:
Im pretty sure this isnt ductile iron pipe and most likely an insulated cast iron pipe. For starters it looks a little on the thinner side to be ductile and also the ductile most likely would have a bell on one end. Second those 90s look like they are welded on there and if it was ductile they would have used those mega lugs laying there on the ground to restrain an MJ 90 to the pipe. At first I thought maybe it was an insulted HDPE fusion type pipe since it was hard to tell from the pictures what it really is.

Bob does it look like those 90 are an iron fitting or polyethylene?

I once thought so too but I looked into it and it is cheaper than dirt as it is very simple to yank out of the atmosphere. That is how they do the end of Terminator. There are huge tanks out back of that facility.

That would explain the absurd amount of fog produced for the effect. That's definitely a lot for the HE, can it be controlled well in smaller doses?

When looking at these pics am I the only one asking... Why do they not keep DC closed a few MORE weeks and paint it black or grey?? This thing does and always will look like Fire and Ice and look nothing like it "belongs" here until they do...

The 2 biggest gripes about the WWOHP are Fire and Ice's colors. And them not hiding FJ's show building well enough (particularly from the JP side). 3rd would be DC queue in comparison to hat was there before.

Back to 2, I would love for the to cover the JP side of FJ's show building with rock work and a BIG A$$ waterfall.

Hey, everyone! As a Potter fanatic, I wanted to say "thanks" for all of the amazing updates. I don't post often, but I'm always lurking, and the BTS information and pictures are much appreciated.

How long as they planning on keeping Dragon Challenge closed? It certainly wouldn't be an overly challenging paint job.

On further reflection LN probably wouldn't be appropriate as the cold fog falls to the ground (doesn't rise like smoke or steam). If they use LN it would make the stack on the train look like a witches cauldron.

gonna agree that they should completely update the themeing on DC while it's closed. Including it's bare bones queue.

That Q is lame especially in comparison to the rest of WWofHP.

I'm pretty sure we're all on board to get rid of the red and blue colors. As mentioned, the DD queue and track colors have been some of the most popular complaints/disappointments brought up on the WW threads. I don't know about gray, but at least painting Ice/Hungarian Horntail in black would be a big improvement. Chinese Fireball is OK in red, I guess. If they also re-paint/re-do the 'dragon skins' of the ride vehicle, then I'd be ecstatic.

Hell yes, please! I'm 100% on board with that!!

But can't they find a way to pressurize the gas and push it up, even if it will come down again after a few seconds?

I agree Filipe. A simple compressed air valve attached to a very small compressed air source would do the trick nicely, and then the liquid nitrogen could easily dissipate.

Possibly. It would dissipate really quickly in the summer heat if it was forced out under pressure (which would be an ok thing).

Didn't Dueling Dragons (back when it opened) have a record for the longest most elaborate queue to an attraction? Is it still one of the longest queues, or is the one for Forbidden Journey or another attraction longer?
