Here is something I thought you guys might find interesting... this is no joke.

So yesterday afternoon I was at Universal Studios Florida doing what I usually do, taking photos of Transformers and the like. And, as I stood in front of Transformers, a security guard approached me and, no kidding, invited me to come into the construction area. I couldn't believe it. Of course I said yes, and he unlocked the door and took me in.

As soon as we got to the front of the building he seemed to have second thoughts about his invitation and suggested that we leave.

It was one of the strangest experiences I've ever had at Universal. Anyway, I only managed to get a few shots -- here are the best ones:

I'm still having trouble believing that security invited me in, but that's exactly what happened!

I will respectfully disagree. A new, high tech dark ride from demo of previous occupant to open in less than 9 months means the least thing I'll be worried about is the outdoor queue. That IS high quality to me. Of all the things we're getting right now, to get bent out of shape about one outdoor queue does seem like a spoiled child. If this were the only ride we were getting, then I would agree with you, but so much else is happening that you can only expect Universal to spend so much money. If they have to cut a little cost, the outdoor queue will work.

Somes up my long post from the last page.

I'm sorry, but Disney built LMA, Soarin', and Everest at the same time. Because of that, am I supposed to forgive LMA for being awful?

No, and just because Uni is building amazing things across the lagoon, I'm not going to not say everything about TF beside the ride has been poor planning or lazy so far.

Now only if that security guard could encourage the guards over at Potter phase 2 to do the same thing. Hahaha

Thanks OI... not just two rows under the overhang, but three, and they are wide rows! That will take care of a ton of people.

I agree with JungleSkip. Personally I don't think the queue is the end of the world but if people do then their opinions should be totally respected and considered, not only because of the high bar of theming Universal has already set for themselves but also because they're charging guests for a very high quality experience, and if this quality is being shirked in people's opinions, then so should the prices.

Or Universal could just adhere to the standard they've set for themselves and give experiences worth the cost of a ticket and not have issues like these

How long this took to get built is irrelevant. That was a decision made by Universal and is ultimately of little concern when judging the final product. Is this ride somehow better than the previous version that took longer than this one?

Maybe someone has already mentioned this, but how frequently do we think that this overflow queue is actually going to be used after the initial opening rush? Frankly, it seems to me that Universal could have gotten away with something temporary, but opted instead to install a permanent queue. Granted, I don't know how many people the rest of the queue can hold, but I don't see this being used regularly after the first year or so.

Think again man. SpiderMan with little express has to extend their Q almost daily,(granted usually just a little bit) and their indoor Q holds about 30 minutes. If this holds less than that, the extended line will be a regular part of this wait.

Yes I agree, good to see it! Looks like a good hour wait outside under that awning, which is much better than the concrete wasteland.

I see them implementing the overflow when it opens and during reeeaaally busy times, but if the outdoor queue holds a solid hour wait, then I can;t see it being used too much. People are going to see the long outside wait and that will deter them from making it longer.

People wait 3 hours for Space Mountain.

A long wait doesn't deter people in Florida.

True, but:

a. they never actually see how long the line is, just the wait time

b. all of that waiting is out of the sun

But these themparkers are crazy. My "hoping" this will deter them is probably just wishful thinking. We can dream, though

This is indeed how I feel about the situation. Most major theme parks don't just have construction all over the park and build tons of new attractions at the same time. Especially a theme park that's been around since the early 90's. You just don't see that kind of activity and excitement from most theme parks, but then again Universal is NOT like most theme parks. They really want to keep giving exciting attractions to the public. Now as far as the outdoor queue for Transformers I believe that will be sorted out in the near future. I really don't think we should be getting all worked up about it. If everything we've been hearing about these upcoming attractions/expansions is true, then everything is going to be FRIGGIN AMAZING. :jaw:

That's totally fine. You're entitled to your opinion. But so is everyone else, even if they don't share such a positive opinion 100% of the time.
