Totally agree that I'd rather have a show at Waterworld than a house.

Especially since it is our ONLY show venue outside of DreamWorks, but that is limited capacity. Waterworld can hold ......A LOT (sorry, I can't remember the exact number lol)

At least we gained another soundstage!! That makes up for an Upper Lot maze loss

Count me as among those who really miss the Metro sets. The walk was never that bad, and the scare zones along the way helped (even if Toxic Tunnel was becoming stale). Hanging out on the Universal sets is always fun -- plus, Universal is one of the birthplaces of modern horror, so being on the backlot during HHN was a pretty cool and special thing, in my opinion.

Maybe I've forgotten how bad the walk actually was, but it wasn't any worse than the walk to the CG lot was it? That walk is brutal to me for some reason, especially after you exit Potter. It's just a long, slow, boring trek.

In my recollection it was quite a bit worse. I recall there being a year where they used trams to shuttle you to the backlot — I can’t imagine that happening for Curious George.

2013, first year Metro operated; only year they did the trams. After 2013, the drop-off/Pick-up that was used for that area was then used for FDTDVenue as I think some have called it.

I wonder if it's a cost reason then due to the gas refueling. Either way, it wouldn't work now due to the current infrastructure of the property. Also when people say which one's bad of Curious or Metro--it's Metro. By a longshot, due to the much more considerable length of walking distance you travel to get there.
________
I'd additionally have to think for the most part Metro should be off-limits due to the rate of productions and the costs to have houses down there from as early as May to November. It doesn't seem reasonable to me anymore; especially when you have two locations down in the cluster (and it can honestly go to three if they're smart on it) and that of H-Lot itself.

Why invest in rates to keep those venues there, when you can use cheaper venues (or venues made for the event specifically, like UBE), and then focus on investments for show quality of the houses.

If you include the walk through Potter, I'd say getting to CG is pretty similar to going from the lower lot to the Metro sets.

See I consider Potter as part of HHN more properly now; due to that of the Death Eaters roaming around Hogsmeade (and of FJ and Hippogriff being opened). I am mainly factoring the backstage path that it takes from that of FJ's gate, to that of the road next to Cinema Lot.

I factor similar with Metro, as from Transformers to Metro; it is a stupidly long walk; with also that of the slanted hill being much more notable.
1706719659153.png

Though you are right that at the end, it is roughly the same (only lacking .02 miles from that of Hogsmeade to H-Lot). I'd also think the studio wouldn't give two licks on what exactly happens with H-Lot, if I'm being completely honest. It's far enough from the studio to not cause production issues, and it is directly next to Curious George to only be really used more as a staging lot.

I also miss the backlot but Alex is right. This is the result of a cost benefit analysis that works way better for HHN’s intents.

I think when you look to the future, I think the time will come to ask where can we go for HHN Venues once they finally take out Mummy and go for that expansion in Lower Lot. But as it stands right now; they actually have a really good grasp on positional and locations.

I also admittedly think this is why the Sprungs are happening; because it lets them ironically reduce costs further in the longer term (even if it means a small spike for just this year in particular). The construction of purpose-built and purpose-made venues for USH Seasonal events, will allow them a lot more in that of what the future can hold.

Yeah the trek itself is roughly equal, and the walk to Metro at least had two scare zones to experience. It’s just a nostalgia thing for me, I understand the logistical reasons behind the move and I think it all works out just fine.

They brought back the trams for 2015 (only 2 houses in Metro).

2014 was the guinea pig year for that long journey (I was part of the staff for it). The long walk returned in 2016.

For me, I think the reason I didn't mind the trek to the Metro Lot, and find the trek to CG is a bit more annoying is the width of the pathway. Heading to the Metro lot, the path was basically fairly wide all the way there, easing any crowded feelings. Plus at least there were some scareactors to break it up.

The path of CG is considerably more claustrophobic , and that bit where the mob of people have to abruptly merge into a narrow sidewalk with a railing is especially brutal first thing. Every time I did it, so many people get stepped on and kicked in the trample. And other than video screens, there's nothing to look at or experience (aside from a nice city view at the merge point).

Wow I did not know this. I did not have a express pass when I went to hhn 2022 so that means that I didn't get to do the curious George parking lot maze. This year I am getting express so that means I will most likely suffer now.

Hello from Spain, my girlfriend and me are two HHN fans. We were in 2023 and we will return in 2024. And these are our speculations of horror houses for HHN 2024 with probability percentage:

Chucky (again) 90%
Gremlins (40th anniversary) 99%
Creature from the Black Lagoon (70th Anniversary) 95%
Children of the Corn (40th anniversary) 50%
Hellraiser 40%
Saw (20th anniversary) 65%
Nosferatu (Movie in December) 50%
Five nights at Freddy's 99%
A Nightmare on Elm Street (40th Anniversary) 55%
The Nun II 25%

Maybe Scare Zone of Silent Hill 2

I'd also say Texas Chainsaw--50th Anniversary is this year too.

(Honestly, Titans of Terror could make a comeback and it'd actually make sense)

I really hope not.

I love the original TCM but....c'mon. Please something else besides Texas. It's been at the event five times already. When this year starts, it will have been three years since we've had it. That's too soon.

Freddy Kruger on the otherhand.....we haven't had a solo Freddy house since 2010 and even then it was based on the remake!

Instead of Terror Tram 2.0, have it as a house again, but this time literally hosted by Chucky via the animatronic puppets..

The more I think on it, Titans actually makes sense. Nightmare and Texas has it's 40th and 50th Anniversaries respectively this year, they could repurpose the animatronics from Chucky, and use Jason as a means to promote Crystal Lake on Peacock.

It's something me and a friend of mine have speculated on; and it would allow them to reuse a vast amount of recycled objects and effects without having to break the bank. Plus on a brand level, the four of them write checks in merchandising.
