The good news is it's just a food booth, so who cares?

Somebody brought up an answer in reply to me on Twitter wondering what that second one was that makes sense, and I think means then what you said is kinda on purpose? This guy theorized that they look like peoples houses you’d be trick or treating at to go with traditional Halloween theme. I definitely agree that the images on the second one look like generic spooky decor I’ve seen at Spirit. Maybe that’s the point at least. I like it still, but those ones are a bit cheaper, yeah.

This is shaping up to be a better event than last year, which is surprising considering all the hype of 30 being an anniversary year, the big return after the COVID hiatus, etc. I’m still not in love with The Weeknd as the headliner but upping the theming, placemaking, etc. while leveraging the new food festival party atmosphere from last year will be awesome. If the houses are to the same standard as last year and they up the quality of the food/drink options, I have no doubt this will be the event we all hyped up 30 to be.

But if the "theme" this year is Traditional Halloween, then they hit the mark.

I'd like to think that the Halloween parade scarezone coincides with the area in Sting Alley. Meetz Meats took place in the 1950s (just like the NY scarezone) and the queue video was filmed in Sting Alley. It could be a food area and scarezone combined themed to Meetz Meats.

Hell it could even be a reference to HHN 1993's Slaughterhouse, which was in Nazarman's

They're going to have to set up Sting Alley with a designated entrance/exit because that place is gonna get packed.

That's true but I'd be surprised if there were zero actors there

If it's a food booth, which is what it looks like, I doubt any actors will be there

What if this one, and the Coven one (possibly others) are designated themed bar/hangout areas that may feature actors roaming?

Also, if the Witches zone, bar area, and house all tie into each other through the "Witches Brew" theme...Yah, having a house and zone advertise your bar area is pretty diabolical.

One thing I thought was strange is that, at least from what I can tell, the Day of the Dead booth isn't anywhere near Chupacabra - and the Witches zone is nowhere near the Witches house.

So maybe they're not trying to incorporate those together, and they just went general stuff scattered around.

You beat me to it. This was my instant reaction, that these are supposed to be suburban houses decorated for Halloween with tacky decorations. It makes sense with the theme of the scare zone too, being a traditional fall festival. This is awesome because it makes it immersive to do something as simple as order food; by ordering food here you become a trick-or-treater on Halloween and have a role in the zone itself. I really hope this becomes a trend of making the food booths fit thematically into the scare zones.

In 2012 they let actors "Roam" within reason, and they pulled it that year for a lot of different reasons. But the best one was that an actor went into Finn's banged on a window and shattered the glass.

With that being said, I have heard that we will be getting a roaming horde that actually has more than one zone, as opposed to just chainsaws in Krustyland.

I assume the horde would mainly move through non-zone areas?

I've seen it executed a few different ways and I think it's going to be what makes the most sense operationally, which is probably 2-3 zones and they will rotate which zone giving the feeling to a guest of "Moving throughout the park". Realistically what that would probably look like is starting the night at Gates & then rotating to Krustyland, and somewhere back of park & mid park.

In 2006 the Chainsaw Drill Team had to actually walk around the park.
In 2008 they had multiple mini segmented zones
In 2011 the Popper/Chainsaw Drill Team had like 2 spots they rotated in
In 2012 the actors truly roamed around the park

Moving from front gate to another area (or two) later in the night makes a lot of sense.

Haven't seen this posted here yet, but this should alleviate some fears:

Teenagers at Universal Orlando for Halloween Horror Nights will be able to visit CityWalk by showing their event ticket, bypassing a weekend curfew for minors at the entertainment district.

Thinking about it, I don't think it's -that- surprising. When you look past the general happy hype of the event returning, 30 fell prey to overhype which can happen rather quickly with anniversary years, especially when the last one was 25 which was one of the more successful anniversary years. While it wasn't what I'd call a "bad year" since I still enjoyed it, but if I'm comparing it to previous years I've attended (2018, 2019), it's firmly in 3rd.

Meanwhile for this year...

- A ragtag, wildcard-aplenty house lineup. While some folks aren't super hyped because there's no Stranger Things etc, that's perfectly fine since it's easier to impress if folk's expectations aren't sky-high.

- A killer unified theme/vibe for the event. Let's face it, Halloween in all its many forms will check a lot of boxes for people. And seeing it carried through the zones, the promo art, the merch, the food booths...these are the kind of details people will remember.

- Speaking of food booths, continuing and expanding the themed food booths which was one of the more successful aspects of 30. Last year the various food offerings and booths were a winner, so it's great to see them picking up where they left off. And with possible themed bars added to the mix, and whatever the heck is going in Sting Alley? Yes, please!

That's just off the top of my head, but there's a lot to be excited for this year. Since it doesn't have the burden of living up as an anniversary year, it's kinda' slipping in under the radar, which makes it all the better when it does show itself fully.

To return to actual speculation: I am VERY curious by the witchy bar setup that has appeared in San Francisco. That looks more comprehensive than booths in that area, right? The pylons in the out-of-the-way seating area intrigue me. Do we think this is going to be a full(er) bar to take some strain off of Chez Alcatraz and Finnegan’s?
Do we know if that is a bar area only or also food service? They are losing lots of food space with Monsters Cafe gone and Louie's being the new location for the Scaracter Dining.
