Interesting note. Traunches are financial in nature. I had to learn about this during investment accounting classes. It is such a fun word with such a boring meaning.

In structured finance, a tranche is one of a number of related securities offered as part of the same transaction. The word tranche is French for slice, section, series, or portion, and is cognate to English trench ('ditch'). In the financial sense of the word, each bond is a different slice of the deal's risk.

FYI - Not trying to be Grammar Police on this either. Just interesting information.

Did Kong open with the park this morning? I tried my Universal app but it did not list Kong.

Also, have you ever observed any construction workers doing the Crouch-Hop? This occurs typically when someone's finger (typically thumb or index finger) finds its way between the nail and the hammer. The person then thrusts theirs hands between their thighs and begins hopping around in a crouched stance. It is typically accompanied by emitted sounds like, "Oooh", "Ahhhh", and "OWWWW" but those can be supplemented with four letter words. I once crouch-hopped after mashing my finger while installing a roof on my shed. I first threw the hammer, went down to the ground (safety first), and then crouch-hopped into the house to get some ice.

It was listed on Touring Plans when I checked at 9:30, which uses a Universal app for posting times. It was 20 minutes then, now it's up to 45 minutes (10:00 AM)

Yes it did, the periscope I saw was a 20 minute wait.

Outstanding. Now we know the yesterday's early open was not a fluke. I am curious to know if Kong now changes early traffic patterns in the park or if the main crowd is still heading to Harry Potter first

I think it'll be split down the middle for now but Kong will have the longer waits.

Kong seemed to cut into many of the headliner waits at IOA yesterday. Spider Man & FJ, were much lower than normal for this time of year.

Attendance is down at all Orlando parks year over year, so that's not an accurate measurement.

I actually phrased that incorrectly from what I meant to say. . The waits for FJ & Spider Man were lower than the normals for the headliners, Spider Man & FJ, than they were before Kong was opened for the full day......Perhaps attendance is flat, but line times are just about the same as last year, if you follow them from day to day. TP just projected 2016 June crowds way higher than they actually were last year. They projected 9's and 10's, while last year was 6, 7's and 8's. June has been about the same. Of course, line times and attendance are not always the same. But, line times is what I was referring to.

Wow, early June FJ was running at 45 minutes most of the day. So I have to agree Kong is helping. I imagine when Hulk opens that should help even more with crowds.

Yeah, I agree. I think once Hulk opens, that stretch of Marvel Island to Kong will get pretty busy.

Interesting. We all marveled at the crowds for Hogsmeade years ago and yet it appears it was never any fun for Universal. They have done their damnedest ever since to water down openings when they believe the attraction might warrant mega crowds.

How accurate do those wait times tend to be?

I think the biggest impact Kong could have on wait times could be reduced times at Universal Studios. People with 1 day or 3 day non-park to park will likely more often pick IOA because of Kong.

^^^ you do have a point. The Uni app wait times are hardly ever accurate compared to the posted wait times.

I think the long waits for Kong will only be temporary. Give it a year when it's not the biggest thing on the block and you'll be able to see first hand what an attraction with that kind capacity can do. Hulk however....

Wait times are calculated based on both the number of vehicles running and length of the queue. It's not updated in real time, though, so there is some delay in accurate times. There is some pressure to keep rider counts high and wait times low.

I would say Kong might be over inflated until they get a better handle on the capacity flow and downtimes. Every other ride is pretty accurate.

I think hitting Kong at park open is gonna be the way to go for the next several weeks for your average touristy visitor like myself. Minimal chance of a break down, and even if everyone goes to Kong first it sounds like this ride can handle attendance surges and the wait should still be minimal compared to midday.

Did we ever find out if there were any break downs/delays yesterday?
