There is also the former Sindbad show building that could be taken out. Combine PF and Sindbad into one plot and that appears to be a substantial amount of room. Although, maybe it isn't as large as it appears. Someone with strong Google map skills could work it out.

Yes, IOA does need entertainment. It's nearly non existent. But sadly, it seems like Universal has abandoned the entertainment concept for IOA and focused on it being a predominantly thrill ride park. If you want entertainment, the guest will need to go over to Studios, which unfortunately doesn't have as much overall entertainment as it had in the past. Lots of short street shows though, which helps a bit.....I seriously doubt we'll ever see much entertainment in IOA in the near future. I don't see the commitment.

Yeah. Those are the IoA operations offices. They’re not going anywhere. IoA is everything inside the perimeter road.

Not expecting them to move, but they could if they wanted to in the name of theme park expansion. Offices are rather easy to relocate.

They could move those desks over to the Toon Lagoon Theater bleachers since they're not using that space

Never underestimate their desire to not have to jump through the hoops of getting approvals to move an access road already certified for emergency vehicles.

I just think whatever project is intended for Lost Continent would probably be better and more cohesive if they didn't have to (kind of literally) paint themselves into two corners in those spots.

Sometimes the most creative choices stem from having to work around strange restrictions, and unique land shapes is definitely one theme park designers are used to.

That location lets IoA TMs moving backstage stop by operations on their way from employee parking to Islands. It’s not moving.

Just the PF and Sindbad added together is just under five acres. Forbidden Journey looks to be 3.8 acres. Pirates of teh Caribbean looks to be just over 3 acres. I'm not as talented as some but mapdevelopers.com made it easier.

It obviously has a current reason to exist there, but is it that important for them to keep it there without relocation? Is Universal really going to restrict itself because of office space?

Unless they move the access road (or go above it), it's a rather small land to build a ride building unless multiple levels are used.

In the nicest way possible, multiple people who know the backstage setup have told you why it's not going any time soon. I'm not sure how many other ways it needs to be worded. Not everything in UOR can be fixed by moving already existing things around. Backstage is already fairly cramped as is and that location is in fact important.

Pull up Google Maps and tell me where else a structure of that size and importance can be moved to as an in-between space. Additionally, they would be cutting off not one, but two access roads.

I promise, we aren't just shutting these ideas down for fun. These things exist for a reason.

If this is a building that they 100% can't touch, which I doubt, I'll shut my mouth. I'm just trying to speculate on what could happen from a placement perspective of a new land. Poseidon's Fury (and the area between the access road and the canal/dock area) is rather small for a new land.

There are a lot of changes happening backstage (Campus Commons, etc.) with future enhancement plans, which gives them the opportunity to consider replacing this space.

PF's current building is only capable of a ride-building approximately the size of Transformers... not a well-suited area for an attraction that could benefit from large physical scenes.

I don’t want to be definitive until we see project permits drop, but I’m under the impression that a replacement for this land will not be reorganizing backstage elements, moving an access road, and will be two attractions. I’m working on a story though and hope to have more soon, but for now I don’t have much definitive stuff to add, just broad rumors.

There are multiple ways of getting around the space limitation though. Multi-story buildings, pathways over the access road to allow for queue on the other side, reconfiguring guest pathways, indoor and outdoor elements of the attraction, etcetera. As much as I love the games, Zelda doesn't need a ton of space, not like Mario does. It would be just fine with only one ride and some smaller attractions.

Well, if we’re just speculating things, they could just move all of Hogsmeade twenty yards to the west and get more space as well.

The IoA property is defined by the perimeter road. It use to be structured (and @Alicia can probably confirm if it still is) so that Studios, IoA, and CityWalk were three different PROPERTIES with unique, definitive property lines. It was likely designed that way to avoid compounding taxes (if one area posted a profit and the posted a loss, for example). They were ostensibly, separate businesses and it’s why permits will have different addresses based on where work is happening.

That said, any expansion of either park beyond their perimeter is a big deal. The IoA ops building is part of IoA’s perimeter but everything else for that park is inside the perimeter road. Redrawing of property lines (even lines you own) has to go through city/county review, approval, and tax reappraisal. It won’t happen.
