Well, Teebin, they're going to need every hand on deck if what Reel and I were told yesterday is true.

And I'll just leave it at that.

I have a feeling I'll be heading over there several nights a week once this foundation starts pouring...they're going to be ridiculously busy if they're really going to push to have this thing open by the end of next summer, at the latest. I was originally told 13 months back when the permits were filed, but I expected it to be longer, out to about 15 months. Every indication seems to point to them wanting this done faster, though.

Oh, and one final thought. Who wants to help me out with all the chopper flights I'll probably do over the next year?

Is there a reason that you don't want to share with us what you learned? Is it just a rumor or were you both told to keep quiet?

I'm not exactly sure. It was a quick convo last night. I'll leave it up to Reel whether or not to say anything.

I will say that seemingly, they're being more aggressive with the project than even our most outrageous guesses.

Aggressive meaning timeline, changes to the ride, or a little of both? I always thought the timeline seemed aggressive when I first heard 13 months, but as this construction has progressed, it seems like they're moving a little bit faster than I expected.

Very aggressive timeline of next summer. And yes, it seems outrageous. Of course, so does December.

Time will tell.

When I stop and think about it, it honestly doesn't seem that outrageous to me. Coming from a background where parks are closed and they have unobstructed access for almost 5 months (considering winter weather issues), those parks put up a lot of stuff in a relatively short amount of time. Park construction in Orlando has always seemed to be a more drawn out process than it may need to be, even taking into account building things in the middle of a crowded park. Since this ride will use a lot of screens and not as much in the way of physical sets and a ride system that has already been built twice (albeit modified for a slightly different floor plan), I can see the building shell being done by roughly February or early March at the pace they've been moving. I can see a June opening as long as there are no major issues.

Wow, if this thing is open by next Summer, I'd be shocked. I mean, despite their pace right now, anything can happen. And they usually do.

But if everything works out, then you can guarantee seeing me there for previews. I should be moved up there by then.

Do you think it will even take that long? once the concrete slab is down then surley it won't take that long to throw the structure up and make it weather tight. that would allow them to continue working straight through the winter months in an enclosed unit, plus the benefit to this construction (following the transformers theory) is that the soundstage is being custom built to house that attraction and not converted/expanded using another soundstage like previous builds. Assuming all the ride anamatronic moulds and blueprints etc are reusable there's no reason why this couldn't be open but next summer. for all we know, there may already be some autobots transforming off-site as we speak...

^^^^There are no animatronics in TF, actually. So that won't even be a problem.

I'd imagine, as long as there's no problem with the foundations, that the outer shell could be complete by November.

I would love it if this thing is open by December/January. Don't know much about construction, but that doesn't seem like it's possible. Even 12-13 months seems really quick. The sooner the better.

Just need the slab to really see it start to grow. And then the shell and exterior finishes... for awhile most the work will be inside.

I have been told that this may end up being a double pour of concrete. I have also been told that this is a foundation built for extreme weight distribution on poor soil. The implication here is that the foundation will distribute the weight of everything built above it. Also, this is just a small part of the foundation so far. There is still tons of earth to move to lay the rest. So let's not get carried away with opening dates. The plan is 18 months from approximately June 15.

I should have known it was too good to be true. Was just hoping for it to be open in the Winter. Guess I'll have to plan another future trip there after it's open.

The 2 openings we've heard are Summer 2013 or November/December 2013.

Summer is probably when they want it open, and November/December is probably if they have any setbacks.
