That was underwhelming but that actually sounds like a good snack.

There was a great aerial of the floating mountains with the backdrop as well.

This view doesn't exist in the land. At all.

No it doesn't. The shot was taken from a back stage location to the far right of the rockwork wall. On the backside. This was done to give it more depth for the camera but it is not a shot you will see in the land at all.

It was never going to be a shot you will see. The sheer height at which it was taken suggests it was only taken to show scale. No guest would be viewing from that height, ever.

Sure but when you walk into the land you won't see anything close to that scale.

And we have video of what it will look like walking into the land from Whoopie Gholdberg's tour with Cameron...

They simply showed that shot to show that it is indeed an entire land you are walking into and to show scope. All about creating hype. Marketing 101, really.

Upon further inspection I would agree that guests will never see that angle. However, they will most certainly see the scale:

No, Avatar has remained on budget from what I've heard and it's nowhere near 1b.

Just made this new photo my desktop wallpaper (and I'm extremely picky about my wallpaper):
avatar_Full_29839.jpg
Really hoping the fog effects last a long time.

New article from WDW describes Flight of Passage: "Guests will actually feel the banshee breathe beneath them as they soar through the forest and past floating mountains. What was a rite of passage for Na’vi in Cameron’s film becomes a multisensory experience for guests seeking the ultimate adventure – a faceoff with the most feared predator of Pandora, the Great Leonopteryx."

Thanks mods!

I just watched the Whoopi/JC tour video again and overall I think it looks good. I think it will be as immersive as Diagon, but the light fixtures bothered me. They looked like leftovers from Bugs Land at DCA and Pixie Hollow in Disneyland. Other than those, it was impressive. I wonder how the faux plants will hold up in the Florida sun and weather though.

I think it looks fake an not impressive. The more and more I see the less I'm impressed. Rocks, moss, and foliage does not make an immersive environment to me. Stop calling them floating mountains because all you see is one rock work arch. They're not floating and the it doesn't appear to be floating. Stop using the word bioluminescence because it's not. It's a plastic plants with leds, led strips lighting up the trees, and some projection on the rock arch. I just don't get it. I've said all along this is just going to cannibalize DHS attendance and that's what it will do.

Many times, restaurants cover food in wax to set up the picture. It preserves the food for the picture taking. Not saying this is what they did but it could explain why it looks this way.

I finally watched the videos and I didn't have that goose bumps moment. Some parts are very beautiful (glowing ground at night), but others leave me wanting more (floating mountains look a little hokey to me). I am hopeful that the land will translate better in person! I think that the rides look like a blast and I want to visit soon after opening.

I've seen a couple of my non-diney fan friends post these clips on Facebook with comments about wanting to visit. Perhaps this will be better received by the GP than I originally guessed.

Also, I think the cheesecake looks like an sunny side up egg dyed blue:p

I feel like they are trying to explain away the methane by saying the plant collects it, so humans are safe to walk about Pandora? Idk.

That video in the tweet looks like it could be setting up for a Kong-like "vlogging" series of videos, though.

I couldn't tell if he was being serious about the plants lifting up and "popping". Could it be that he was describing an effect in the land utilizing the plant?

Anecdotal evidence and all that, but I went over to my mom's today and she was watching the previews. She had no idea any of this was going on. She loved it, and said she wants to take a family trip this fall to see it. That probably means a week in Disney hotels and parks for 8 people. You can do the math on that. So If she goes through with this, the land and this preview brought the company thousands of dollars they weren't going to get otherwise. Like I said, anecdotal evidence, but theres probably a lot of other people who are having similar thoughts.
