i go June 4th so im hoping to land both at some point in the trip
thats one of the reasons why im going to the preview. I would love to know how many people they are letting in for these 2 hour previews 2000, 3000? if its 2000 then ill have time to ride both rides and explore and maybe grab a bite

The river ride has a capacity of like 800 an hour. So I would do that first.

Yea, I was thinking that too but Touring Plans is suggesting people spend their one FP on Flight of Passage, (since you can only get one or the other.)

Even though the boat ride is all ages, and has low capacity, they feel Passage will just be more popular, and offer better re-ridability and may load slow (at least during first few months till they get used to it.) I can see it drawing a bigger crowd, people looking for something exciting to do.

Only time will tell I guess.

I think both rides will be insanely popular that it's a crapshoot. Wait in the one with the nicer queue. Although, we don't know for sure which one that will be yet. The boat ride can be ridden by "everyone", so don't underestimate it's popularity.

Yeah, all of the "bigger" people that get turned away at FoP will have no other choice in the land but to ride River Journey. Not to mention kids under 4-5 (44" height requirement on FoP), pregnant women, people with motion sickness issues, etc.

Here's the Touring Plans video. Info starts at 1:30 in. He makes a couple good points. Also claims boat ride will move more people per hour.

I believe I heard him say "It will move more people", but he was speaking specifically to the fact that it will accommodate more people. I think it was just a poor choice of words on his part as he never mentioned anything about capacity. The closest he got was saying boat rides are fast loading.

Yea, that's what I got from it. I'm worried passage will be like the seat belt issues of Fallon. Slow loading as they get used to it for a few months. It is a unique ride vehicle. Whereas a boat with no restraints is simple to load, but does accommodate less people.

Well technically it accommodates more people as everyone can ride it, but it will have a lower capacity, so less will be able to experience the ride on a given day.

Question. After you use all three FP+ that you selected, can you add from the Tier 1? Ex. You chose FoP for your FP as well as Safari and Dinosaur. You have used all three and still have half a day. Could you then select the River ride for a FP (assuming that openings were available)?

Good question. The wording used in the app is "You may only plan 1 of these per day" so I'm guessing the answer is no...

But I wouldn't know for sure, because there's never been an instance where it was possible for me to complete all three fastpasses and there still actually be any first tier passes remaining to reserve anyway.

EDIT: After looking it up on other forums, it appears that yes, you can pick anything for your fourth fastpass, even tier one... if there's any left by then. So, Nick is right.

Yes, as long as a ride has day of availability, you can select it for your 4th selection. At least that's how it works at DHS and Epcot.

I don't think the boat ride will have as low of a capacity as people think. The way people are talking it's as low as Frozen.

It's a brand new ride. Frozen is low because of design issues that are two decades old. Also Disney has made high capacity boat rides - Pirates has the highest operating capacity of any ride at WDW right now (SSE is just better at getting butts in seats sometimes - and the Horizons and World of Motion are gone).

Not to mention the Pandora boat ride is less than half the length of Pirates.

True, but without show stops (like Kong) it's just a matter of how fast the boats can get through the station. They can pile up at the exit like Gran Fiesta.

There's no drops or vehicle choreography like the newest Pirates.

Yea, I can't wait to get stuck next to *singing* Na'vi while waiting for the unload backup to clear.

Extra magic hours after extended park hours point to this being insanely crowded. It will probably be really beneficial to hit softs vs try to get into this for the first few months.

Signing or singing? I sadly do not understand sign language but the singing would definitely get annoying. The one Navi phrase being said repeatedly on the clips from the river ride previews was kind of annoying.

Maybe I missed it but has any official capacity been communicated? I know that that someone a few posts ago said 800 but I would think that Disney would create a ride with twice that capacity (at least). Shanhai's PoTC boats hold a lot of guests where this ride doesn't but quick load/unloads and properly spaced boats should create a good pph.

Haha, fixed it. Singing.

And yes, the repeated stuff in the background of the ABC videos is exactly what I am referring to.

Sorry, I drank my Jerk Juice today (maybe a double-helping) and couldn't resist. This coming from someone who has routinely left words out of sentences on e-mails.
