I have no problem with reasonable suspension of disbelief. Pandoran air is toxic to us, but we are going to walk around just fine. We are hanging out on a planet where our species tried to wipe out the locals, yet they are now ok with it. We have to be put into hibernation to go there because how far it ism but we are walking across a bridge to get there. If you are going to make exceptions for us being there at all, then that needs to extend to merch as well. There is nothing offensive about the merch. They are going to sell a ton of those stuffed navi. It'll probably be the biggest seller.

Well... since you asked. I'm someone, and I care.

There was ALWAYS some questionable things that would have to occur if to keep this canonical to the film(s). Which is exactly what Disney and Cameron are trying to do. The merchandising of infant Na'vi (and presenting them as such) directly contradicts the moral points of both the movie and the land itself. And if Disney is going to be pushing "this is real," then just ignoring colonialism and appropriation of foreign cultures is plugging your ears; that's literally what Avatar is about.

Believe it or not, you were probably the least egregious - but just in case based on past experiences with you....play nice.

Read what your about to post.

If it hasn't added anything to the conversation, then don't post it. A post with your position is okay. A post saying someone else's position is stupid without any justification or semblance of an rationale argument is unnecessary and detract from the discussion.

Saying I don't agree is okay. Saying someone else's position is inferior is not.

Thank you. Let's all be civil please.

Which is not what I said and still applies to animated figures. Now saying it's all controlled by a show system is different but still doesn't mean it's an "AA". As I said being an animated figure it still looks good.

Y'all chill. Brian and I have been watching.

If they were marketed as plushie Jake or Natiri I don't think we'd have noticed. Like how we don't question Yoda.

I love cultural apporiation. I'll be right back, I'm busy eating a pizza while wearing a Cuban guayabera and drinking a margarita with tequila.

I'll be apporiating the Navis culture on May 27th.

As I was saying... the color is wrong. The effect is unconvincing and the plants that looked like plastic that would light up turned out to be plastic that would light up.

Meh.

Yeah, but you're not getting fat and drunk on food and alcohol while basically pretending to be an Italian-Cuban-Mexican while completely ignoring the cultures/purpose from which they originate.

Avatar is a pretty open metaphor for the European colonization of Native American culture. That said, since this is all "real", this is the equivalent of a trading company coming in SELLING BABIES and replicas of, what is literally, the most important part of Na'vi biology.

The verbage my co-workers use on the other team is animatronic, so that's what it is :-) he runs through quite a few motion profiles... I've only gotten to see him a few times but he's truly impressive, inside and out :-)

They've been selling replica babies in stores for a long time. I've never heard of anyone being offended.

Jeez guys. Please don't bring politics into theme parks. People go to Pandora to get away from that kind of stuff. Look at it as an escape. A fairy tale. I can't stand to see great pieces of architecture and masterful designed sets get degraded due to political opinions. Just appreciate the art that is theme parks.
