So with Halloween Ends....I like the idea's in it but don't think they executed it as well as they could...if this was at all set up in any prior films but really this films comes out of no where with its ideas

Kill wise some of the best around but the story is kinda all over the place.

I like the idea of a new killer gaining power with the shape, the team work was cool but very confused at the end why the shape killed him....I assume he was just using the new guy but came out of no where

I liked how the town kinda changed after 2018, like they blame Lori for Michael which makes sense that they want to blame someone they can yell at.

I felt bad for the Dad of the new killer, he was just a nice dude

When the new killer stabbed himself was such a smart move to destroy Lori life

If you have Shudder (if not why are you in this thread, guy? it's beyond worth it as a horror fan!) I'd highly recommend Deadstream.

A disgraced YouTube video vlogger attempts to redeem himself by spending one night alone in a supposedly haunted house. While the acting isn't the greatest and the budget shows at some points, if you're a fan of horror comedy, especially splatstick, you're gonna dig this fun ride. I've seen reviews that have dropped an Evil Dead-like comparison and that's such a strong burden but Deadstream lived up to that billing. It never reaches the same levels as anything in the ED franchise, but it does play around in the same gory, gooey, goop-y, chaotic, fun, funny, heartfelt playground. There's absolutely worse ways you can spend an hour and a half this Halloween (glares at Halloween Ends).

I watched that one a couple nights ago and really enjoyed it, I definitely found it to be reminiscent of Evil Dead as well.

Every so often something comes out that feels like a real throwback to the 80's horror films that I love: creative, physical, real, great characters and full of heart. That's what I liked about Deadstream. It's not the greatest thing you'll watch this season but for me it'll stand out against most of the usual modern horror fare.

Unrelated but one of my favorite Halloween season films: The WNUF Halloween Special has a sequel that I didn't even know existed until a week ago called Out There Halloween Mega Tape about a local news investigation of a barn where lots of alien abductions have happened. For now you can only get it directed from the creator's website but I'm down for getting my hands on it ASAP so I'm stoked to see it this season!

Put me in the camp that also liked DEADSTREAM. Just pure haunted house fun. I particularly enjoyed how simple a lot of the ghouls and monsters are (no over-the-top CGI, just puppets, rubber, and makeup), and I think the filmmakers somehow made a character who could have been really insufferable into an entertaining goofball.

Bram Stoker’s Dracula will be screening in Oct 27.

Should I go for the original or remake versions of the Ring and Grudge?

Certainly the original JU-ON: THE GRUDGE instead of the remake. I think RINGU or THE RING is a closer call.

Watched Out There last night and I loved it. While it never hits the great crescendo that WNUF Halloween Special does, it is such a fun, fun Halloween time with an amazingly dark but comedic finale. While the first film hits those 80's style adverts, as a child of the 90's myself I was loving how this one is such a picture perfect tape trade of the 'extreme,' over the top age that was the late 90's.

WNUF Halloween Special and Out There Halloween Mega Tape are really not traditional 'movies' but moreso super unique experiences, especially when it's in the spooky season!

To second, @belloq87 , when it comes to The Grudge, you'll wanna' stick with JU-ON: THE GRUDGE. It's a no contest kind of situation there.

However, when it comes to RINGU or The Ring, the original is definitely good, and the remake still stands as one of the best American remakes of a J-Horror, and it still holds up to this day. For me this is a case where you can't go wrong with either choice, or just go with both.

Deadstream was awesome. The writers and directors of that film also created the final segment of V/H/S/99 "To Hell and Back," which I would recommend to anyone who enjoyed Deadstream as its similarly "comedic" and features some fantastic creature designs.

Also, if anyone has Shudder and has not seen One Cut of the Dead yet, it's one of my favorite horror movies to drop in the past few years. It's one film you must go blind into and stay through the credits, but the payoff is very clever.

Throughly enjoyed Barbarian. Loved that the characters were written with standard horror tropes purposely to subvert expectations and keep you on your toes the whole movie.

Well, my Firestick thinks i'm in Canada or the UK most of the time (via VPN), so that's how I get good Disney+ content

Caught it on HBO Max and can’t remember the last time I’ve been so entertained by a movie.

With that said, I kinda see it as a one and done. Once you know the ”twist” and how all the characters connect I imagine it loses a lot of its thrill. I also am with you that I appreciate the characters being written in a way that makes them too clever for standard horror tropes…but the problem is after one or two set pieces where your expectations get subverted, the characters end up doing standard dumb horror movie stuff anyway. Like yeah, I guess it’s more earned in that they went through the effort in the first place, but the plot itself is still completely reliant on just terrible decisions lol.

Well if it was up to me and I was in this situation that was dealt at the beginning of the movie, there is no movie lol. So yeah, bad decisions, but most horror movies make you buy in in order for you to enjoy them. Horror is the one genre where you can make almost every mistake in the book when writing a screenplay and no one will care as long as the movie is a good time.
