Everyone on this thread realizes that MK's attendance is 3 TIMES that of IOA right? Universal will NEVER take over the top spot. Ever. And Uni doesn't care. They care how much people spend on MERCH. That's what they are focused on.

I think the more logical discussion is how much attendance is Disney willing to lose before they wake up. Economic issues and catastrophic events are legit reasons to lose attendance, not because people would like to spend that extra few days at the park down the street.

Maybe 2.5 times.

Exactly. People look at attendance as the only qualifier for success, and they're mistaken.

Well that is a logical, intelligent discussion. But saying WDW is going to become Gatorland and that Uni is going to be the #1 resort... not so much.

It all comes down to the crazy notion that these places are trying to put each other out of business. There may have been a time when Eisner felt that way...but no one is trying to kill each other here.

The Magic Kingdom caters to a younger crowd. The other 3 parks tend to skew to the older crowds, especially Epcot. It may not have the same amount of thrill as Universal, but there's plenty to do for people over the age of 12.

Scratch that, rewrite and install the above 21 crowd. You know as well as I do most of Epcot is zero fun unless you can get hammered around the world. Or at least buzzed.

It would take something massive for Universal to ever overcome Disney. I don't see that happening any time soon. But if Universal making up some ground spurs Disney into taking decisive, positive action, we all win. I might even visit Disney again.

There's no way it's Batman. First off all, if they are doing this on the fly, then and in a hurry, then they would have to have the dimensions of the building, cost, and other things already worked out (like, say, they'd built it already before...).

Or as a viable replacement to Marvel if anything were to happen to it.

Who's to say they won't pull a Disney on Indie/Dinosaur. There's a lot of media you can make while you're building a building.

Not sayin' it's credible...

I am going to argue against logic here. They could do it. They wouldn't change the track at all. Everything would be exactly the same except for the queue. Oh, and the story and animation. If this had been considered a year ago then they have a story. So, the major job is only designing the scenes and some hard work on cgi. This is just an argument against logic and not a hint or anything else. I just maintain that it could be done.

Also, that was not a recent picture (well, recent in terms of how fast they're moving with this). There hasn't been rubble from demolition on site for about a week or more. At least use a recent picture...

I find it amusing and unbelievable that just one month ago today they were still putting up the construction walls around 44.
