I think he's referring to those numbers I spoke of above. TP had projected numbers that were much higher historically for Universal, and were almost unattainable.

The weekly bar graph AGAIN shows expected crowd levels under what was predicted. The WDW and DL reports on the blog show levels as predicted. Don't think I'm going to renew my UO membership there.

Yes, TP's projections were way off. But if you look at last summer's crowd levels on the charts they're almost exactly the same for every day.

TP Crowd calendar is about the feel of the crowds, not actual attendance.

I've read there that it is based on wait times for certain rides at peak time periods each day, historical numbers, park hours, etc. I don't think there is any good way to know actual attendance since the parks don't give that out daily.

Yes, they do, for 1-Day tickets at the park gate.

You're right. I stand corrected. I was thinking of online purchases.

US profits and attendance were up, but mainly due to Japan and Hollywood. Looks like UO was flat, but not much specific in the call about it.

This week has actually been busy at all the parks. I think it's because it's the last chance to do something "vacation-y" before school starts for so many people.

Six Flags just had their Q2 earnings report. Attendance in the last quarter rose 2%, with per guest spending up the same amount. No attendance decline for them.

That's almost always the case that when things are down in Orlando, they go up for the regional parks. People want to take their kids to a theme park, but they stay close to home.

I agree, but also seems to be a bump in Latin Americans, tour groups and otherwise.

Here is a detailed analysis of attendance at WDW using wait times from the Touring Plans blog. General conclusion was attendance was down at all parks except MK, which was up.

If UO was to ever be more popular than WDW as a whole I would expect to see a similar pattern. Guests would still go to MK but skip the rest to do the UO parks. Without MK to carry them I think UO parks would now have better attendance than the other three WDW parks.

MK was down too. Many days missed the internal projections...

All WDW parks were and are down. UOR has evened out and has gone up in the past few weeks. All the rules have changed, this is fun.

The next Orlando theme park earnings call is Sea World. It will be Thursday, August 4th at 9am EST. Since they are just theme parks it will have plenty of good information. I am anxious to compare their numbers to WDW. The link will take you to the Sea World page.
