Well, I guess my question is have they done any projection tests to ensure the park would be able to hold and operate opening day crowds...After the initial UO opening and Volcano Bay, its quite critical in today's environment to ensure they have enough capacity to also deal with ride issues that will occur on opening day.

Nothing would be worse than opening the park and 3 out of a possible 10-12 rides are out resulting a loss 30-35% percent of assessed capacity. Not saying they need to open with 20+ rides but hopefully they have backup entertainment and shows in park to cover potential issues so it is not history repeating itself that could be prevented.

Honestly, my theory is more in a similar vain to @Orlandofan12

I see at most, 10-11 actual "rides", with 4 to 6 "attractions" consisting of shows and experiences that can keep people invested, but not costing as much as a new ride.

I also get the vibe, that outside of Nintendo and potentially something else; everything will be created for the park by scratch.

I just want to feel like we get our money's worth from the place when it's open. If a total attraction count (including rides and shows) in the very low teens can accomplish that, then fine.

But the lower the attraction count, the more important each one has to be. There's more riding on each one being good. There's less room for error or duds.

9 or so rides give or take would be a decent estimate (with a higher number of total attractions), but of course many would be filler. Nintendo will be the star of the park.

I would not expect the other three "worlds" to have as much substance. Expect Nintendo to be the MSHI of the new park, with the other "worlds" being more akin to Seuss Landing/Toon Lagoon. Although one is likely to have more to it than the remaining two.

I'd like to point out that IOA opened with 9/10 rides depending on if you count Island Skipper Tours, which is the biggest opening line up of any Orlando park outside of MK:

2020 will see Ratatouille. 2019 will see Galaxy's Edge and MMRR. Last I heard Galaxy's Edge is aiming for an October opening, though it could easily slip to November.

For rides sure but I expect a quiet year for WDW as people put off their trips in anticipation of Star Wars. You’re the first person I’ve heard say October. The general consensus is December.

Yes, 3 to 4 E-tickets is more in line with expectations. I would expect around 9-10 total rides, and around 15 total attractions, in other words pretty much right in line with IOA's opening.

Forgive me if I don't believe you, considering that what you're saying would be an unacceptable lineup IMO. You're saying that there'll be ten rides, but Nintendo already has three, maybe four. That's potentially close to half of the parks' rides in one land. That'll be some real bull if that happens.

Also, there should be at least three flats. So that'll be seven actual rides, three/four in Nintendo. That's not happening.

Although I agree, I think it's disappointing. Of the two series, the original HP movies will most likely be cherished as "classics" by the time I am back in diapers. (Side note: not saying the HP movies were perfect works of art, but I think between the films and the books, the original run has some serious staying power.) Can't say the same for Fantastic Beasts.

If the queues are good, lines can be worth it. Unless you're stuck in the extended queue, walking through FJ's queue is almost as fun as the ride itself.

I agree with you on the queues. FJ & Gringotts queues are as entertaining as the rides themselves. Same with Kong.

I would reserve judgment on Fantastic Beasts as a series until the next film comes out. JKR has proven herself an adept writer and since this story is being told in films and not books, it may just betaking more time to set up the whole universe/story she wants to tell. Remember she wrote the final few books of the original series after the first book became a phenomena and had been made into a film. She knew the story arc even before she finished it which is how she could tell Alan Rickman what his character's destiny was before the series was finished. By the time this park opens at least one more installment of FB will be out and could change everyone's perception.

Remember that holding some things back means we get better stuff overall. Spreading them out over multiple budgets means they have more to spend on each attraction. It should be a complete park with plenty of stuff to draw guests in, like a fine wine getting better with age

But things don't always go as planned... The MiB building spells out a giant M and I, but the B building was never built. So I guess it's the Mission Impossible ride. JP was allotted the most space for expansion, but thus far it's only lost attractions. Luckily the space on one side was able to be seamlessly given to HP, but on the other there a lone Kong ride.

So hopefully they've thought out more contingency plans. For example an expansion plot could be between multiple areas and given to which works out the best after opening.

The only thing I could see actually being "held back" is the Kung Fu Panda stuff if there really is a Chinese exclusivity on that for a few years.

I think, even with Jaws only rarely functioning and BTTF a year away, USF was a full day park when it opened. Experiences like Hitchcock, Earthquake, and Murder She Wrote were pretty lengthy, so if you did all three plus everything else, the day filled up quickly.

Yup! And those shows shaped who I am as a person and got me into filmmaking when I was younger. Plus of course horror make up. (Loved the original The Fly ending!)

Jaws was so bad they straight up closed it for reworking. But Kong and Earthquake also had a lot of issues early on. Those 3 were the big draw to the park. As a kid I barely noticed and still had a blast. But I remember my mom being upset about spending all that money when it really wasn't ready yet. She was surprised about how highly I spoke of Universal, but even then I noticed that Universal does what Disney don't. They made sure not to run into the same fiascos with IoA, and I expect the next park to be the best opening yet.
